While Shelby’s hugely celebrated association with the Ford Mustang is known to everyone, what happens when the famed tuning company turns its attention to something a bit different? Predictably, it was a roaring success, not least because Shelby American focused on doing what it does best—making iconic Fords just that much more special. With the Ford F-150, Shelby went the extra mile with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that produces a mind-bending 770 hp. Exterior and Interior
If the standard Ford F150 wasn’t imposing enough, the 2020 Ford F150 Shelby Super Snake takes things to the next level. One of the most apparent visual additions is the dual-intake “Ram Air” Shelby Super Snake hood. Engine cooling is also assisted by front fenders for engine cooling. There’s no doubt what this beast is, with this F150 decked out in Shelby rocker panel graphics and full-body rally stripes. Shelby lettering is also found on the hood, tailgate, and truck bed, as well as a “Supercharged” logo on the hood air intakes. You’ll also find painted fender flares, vents, and a custom front bumper, plus a customer-molded skid plate along with a honeycomb racing grille with the Shelby Snake insert. At the back, there’s painted custom rear bumper cladding painted tonneau cover with a Shelby bed rug liner. The added height is thanks to a Shelby-exclusive BDS suspension lift and a Fox Shock System. To enhance the stance, a set of 20-inch Shelby-engraved alloy wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich tires adds to the package. The interior is accessed via power-deploying steps with rock guards and step lights. The cabin itself features seats that have been recovered in Shelby two-tone leather with the snake emblem. The interior also gets the full carbon fiber package, with a Shelby snake-badged console lid and Shelby stainless steel gauges. Finishing the interior up are the truck’s Shebly floor mats and tinted windows.
Engine
Under the hood of the 2020 Ford F150 Shelby Super Snake lies a 5.0-liter V8 engine featuring a supercharger. The car’s blower & intake manifold are powder coated in Ford Racing Blue, plus there’s a performance air intake with a high-flow filter mated to an oversized carbon fiber air intake tube. A performance aluminum heat exchanger helps keep engine temps down, while Shelby also includes an upgraded billet throttle body and upgraded high-performance fuel injectors. The engine expels gasses through a Shebly-tuned Borla performance exhaust coupled with black ceramic dual exhaust tips. Finally, there’s a Shelby Registry engine plaque to guarantee the vehicle’s authenticity.
